About

The government of Andhra Pradesh issued orders for re-structuring of TCR & TI into two units i.e., Administrative, Research, and Training Units vide Go. MS. No.55, TW (GCC) dept. dated.05-05-2016.

An Administrative Unit with planning and protective regulatory functions is attached to the office of the Spl. Commissioner, Tribal Welfare. This unit will have to work under the overall administrative control of, Tribal Welfare.

The Research and Training Unit established in the form of the Tribal Cultural and Training Mission at Visakhapatnam is dedicated full-time to taking up research, evaluation, training, and activities related to the promotion and preservation of tribal culture. Since this requires functioning with required autonomy, it is established as a Society to allow the same to function in a mission mode.

Tribal Cultural Research and Training mission is registered as Society vide Rgd.No489\2016 under Societies Registration Act 1964 and functioning with its headquarters at Visakhapatnam with effect from November 2016.

Functions

1. Re-search activities - Ethnographic, Evaluation Studies, Action Research & Concurrent Evaluations.

2. Promotion of Tribal Culture.

3. Conducting Training and Capacity Building Programs.

4. Documentation and preservation of tangible and intangible heritage and culture of Tribals.

5. Organizing Tribal Festivals - State/ District and Local level.

6. Organizing Workshops, and seminars.

7. Organizing Exchange Visits- Official and Non-Officials functionaries in tribal affairs.

Ongoing activities

1. Construction of TCR&TM office building at Visakhapatnam.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has accorded permission for the construction of new buildings for the Tribal Cultural Research and Training Museum in Visakhapatnam District. The Phase-I works of the TCR&TM building with an estimated cost of Rs 10-00 Crores are completed. The building includes an Administrative block, Staff quarters, and camp office. The building is ready for inauguration. TRI Building is inauguration tentatively proposed on 9th August 2021.

2. Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum @ Lambasingi, Chinthapalli(M), Visakhapatnam

The GOAP has accorded administrative sanction for the construction of the TFF Museum at an estimated cost of Rs.35.00 Crs. (Rs.15.00Crs MoTA, GoI 50% share, and Rs.20.00 Crs State Government support from EI Grant). MoTA so far released Rs.7.50 Cr and agreed to release the remaining Rs 7.50 crores on utilization during 2020-21.

During the NLC meeting in New Delhi on 18.02.2020 the "Bow model Iconic building design" is approved for the museum.

As per the revised timeline prescribed by MoTA, Road Map was prepared for completion of the museum by 31-03-2023.

Confirmation of tenders was done by the Commissioner ate of Tenders (COT) and an agreement was concluded with M/s Satya Sai Constructions, Visakhapatnam. The physical possession of the land is not done due to objections raised by the Agricultural Department though it is not under their usage for the last 35 years. The Revenue Department, GOAP has been requested the District Collector, Visakhapatnam to offer his remarks to take a decision.

3. Conducting Ethnographic and Evaluation studies.

(13) Ethnographic studies on major Tribe groups.

(6) Video Documentation on the functioning of Grama Sabhas in PESA Villages in (6) ITDA districts in Andhra Pradesh was developed.

Video Documentations

(4) Video Documentation covering the culture, dialect, and customs of four (4) tribal communities viz., Jatapu, Nakkala, Koya, and Valmiki residing in Andhra Pradesh are entrusted to Institute for Development Studies, (IDS), Visakhapatnam, and in progress.

(5) Evaluation studies on TSP, Pre -Matric & Post Matric scholarships & PESA.

Developing primers in (6) tribal languages & supply to all the S.T students in Tribal Welfare Educational Institutions.

(10) Video documentation on creating health awareness in tribal communities was developed. The soft copies were shared with POs of ITDAs for utilization in creating awareness among the ST communities.

4. Organizing State level and District/ Local level festivals.

Organizing World Adivasi Day, Sri Sri Sri Modakondamma Jathara, Sri Alluri Seetharamaraju Jayanthi, Modakondamma festival, Santh Sevalal festival & their documentation.

World Adivasi Day is being celebrated as State Festival every year in a befitting manner at State/District/Mandal levels.

5. Trainings:

Training to Grama Sabhas on Implementation of PESA, their constitutional privileges, and rights is entrusted to Andhra Pradesh State Project Monitoring Unit, Rajahmundry with the project cost of Rs.50 Lakhs. Organizing ITDA level training programs are completed and for the community, it is in progress.

6. National Seminar

A Two-day National Seminar on the Theme-Tribal Policies and Programmes in India: Regional Reflections in the Context of Globalization is scheduled to be organized on the 09th and 10th of August,2021 on the eve of the World Adivasi Day on 09-08-2021. MoTA & other TRIs are being extended an invitation for participation in the National seminar on Tribal Issues.

7. Library:

Library in Physical & Digital mode is being established. Digitalization of (4765) titles is already completed. (150) TRI Publication was uploaded to NTRI Portal.

8. Collaborations

TCR & TM has also established collaborations with universities such University of Hyderabad, Andhra university, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, and National Tribal university. We are also planning to collaborate with Disha foundation COE & state resource-based organizations in the countrys future.

9. New projects for 2020-21
